Investigation games to work on reading inferences!
Les enquêtes de Justin Férence are designed for students in the second and third cycles of elementary school. They focus on the ability to make inferences and identify important information in a text. Solving an investigation involves 10 steps that can be carried out in a class group or workshop over several class periods.
Each Justin Férence investigation takes the form of a project that alternates between different reading and writing activities. Among other things, students are asked to analyze the crime scene, think about the potential motives of the main suspects, attend interrogations, and justify their suspicions.
The game materials are available in different formats. The facilitator can choose to project the components on the board, make copies for each student, or present the cards and sheets in the investigation folder designed for this purpose. In addition to the materials needed to conduct the investigation, two envelopes are provided so that the facilitator can "stage" the case to be solved in a fun atmosphere. Each visual element is designed to motivate students during the investigation!
