Cartes à lire
Short texts that help students build stronger reading strategies!
The Cartes à lire collection features short texts presented as reading cards. For each grade level, six packs of Cartes à lire are available.
Each pack focuses on a specific reading skill or strategy through 48 short, engaging texts:
- Identify the main idea of a text;
- Find information in a text;
- Make inferences;
- Make predictions;
- Understand anaphora;
- Develop strategies for understanding vocabulary in context.
The texts include a high proportion of words from the MELS spelling list. They can be used for independent reading or for interactive reading with an educator. Each text comes with questions related to the strategy being developed. Students can answer orally or in writing, and the answers are provided on the back of each text card.
